On Friday, April 19, 2024, we had the pleasure and honor to attend the grand opening of the National Round of the Geography and Economics Olympiad, in the "Prof. Marin Drinov" hall, in the Central Building of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
The event was attended by the members of the national committee, teachers, scholars, participants, their teachers, and guests to mark this special moment. The Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Emilia Lazarova, was also a special guest at the solemn event.
Bulgaria ranks at the prestigious 6th place in the eternal ranking of medals in the world since the existence of this competition. The International Olympiad has been held since 1996, and during this period our country won as many as 14 medals!
The medals won at the XVII and XVIII International Olympiads, at whose solemn awarding ceremony we had the pleasure of attending, the laureates won a total of 7 medals: 1 gold ๐ฅ, 5 silver ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ and 1 bronze ๐ฅ.
Bulgarian students at the XIX International Geography Olympiad in Bandung, Indonesia, competing with nearly 200 other participants from 46 countries, won a total of 4 medals: 2 gold ๐ฅ๐ฅ and 2 bronze ๐ฅ๐ฅ.
Our presence at this year's grand opening of the Olympiad was an excellent opportunity to share the excitement and pride with all participants, to support them at the National Round of the Olympiad, as well as to wish them success and participation in the International Olympiad (iGeo), presenting, once again, worthy of Bulgaria on the world stage. ๐ง๐ฌ
For this year's 20th anniversary, we were delighted to contribute to the National Olympiad in Geography and Economics by creating their website and anniversary logo. ๐งโ๐ป ๐
We are grateful to have been given the opportunity to share our expertise and passion with so many people who share a love of education and science. ๐ ๐บ๏ธ
๐๐ผ We also personally thank Assoc. Dr. Emilia Patarchanova (Chairman of the National Commission for Organizing and Holding the National Olympiad in Geography and Economics), as well as Mrs. Gergana Ivanova (Chief Expert in Geography, MES) for the invitation.
